Hire a refugee or asylum seeker .

Hire from tiyya foundation

By hiring our clients, and paying them a living wage or providing internship/apprenticeship opportunities, you are directly supporting refugees, and are contributing to the social and economic prosperity of your community.

Why hire from Tiyya?

Our clients have transferable skills related to their future employment, including previous work experience, certifications, and education from their country of origin. Upon arrival in the United States, most of our clients aim to become financially independent and self-sufficient. However, they are met with the harsh realities of navigating life in a new place, with a new language, and a complex employment system.

The first obstacle is the language barrier, because English is not their first language. With the help of Tiyya’s new program “Coffee and Conversation,” our clients will gain greater fluency and literacy in the English language.

The second barrier is the implicit and unconscious bias of employers, who hesitate to employ candidates who are new to the United States.

What these employers forget, however, is that the skills and experience of our clients have significant economic and social potential. Other benefits of hiring a refugee include high rates of retention, an increasingly diverse workplace for a diverse community, and higher levels of creativity and innovation.
